How to Plan a Jubilee Street Party

  • A Jubilee Street Party is the perfect excuse to get to know your neighbours better.
  • Create some invitations and deliver them, personally, to everyone in your street or neighbourhood.
  • Arrange to discuss your plans for the Street Party with your neighbours … do not try to organise it all yourself, there may be too much to do!
  • Research where it is best to hold your Street Party.  You will need permission from your Local Authority, so give yourself plenty of time before the Jubilee to arrange this.
  • Take out Street Party Insurance just in case an accident happens.  Try to pin point any hazards and tackle them before hand.
  • If a Street Party is not feasible then hold a party in your garden, on your driveway or at a neighbour’s house … be creative!
  • Decide how and where you are going to watch the Jubilee celebrations.  You could arrange for a Big Screen to be brought into the street or you could watch the ceremony in someone’s house.
  • Share the responsibility of preparing food and refreshments with your neighbours.  Decide whether you want to serve hot or cold food, or just ask everyone to bring their favourite dish!
  • Make sure you have enough furniture, ask your neighbours to bring additional tables and chairs.
  • Organise different activities for all ages, for example face painting for the children and bingo for the adults.
  • Order your Jubilee Street Party Packs and Diamond Jubilee Memorabilia in advance.  Click here for Diamond Jubilee Merchandise
  • Visit your neighbours before the big day and share your plans with them.

 Big Day

  • Put all your Jubilee Decorations up with plenty of time to spare, ask your neighbours to help.
  • Keep a record of all the events happening and TV listings of all the broadcasts.  You can see a list of events here.
  • Most Importantly!  Enjoy your Jubilee Street Party and hope for some fantastic British weather!
